SOICHIRO FUKUTAKE

Soichiro Fukutake founded the Benesse Corporation, which runs nursing homes in Japan and language schools globally.

Through the Fukutake Foundation, he supported art, science and regional Japanese culture by creating four museums or “art shrines” on the islands of Naoshima, Teshima and Inujima in Japan’s southern Seto Inland Sea archipelago, built in collaboration with the famous Pritzker Prize-winning architect Tadao Ando.

His name is associated to a vision of bettering society through culture, as he transformed industrial waste dumps into destination for art lovers “in search for eternity“.
